Specific Learning Disability

Specific Learning Disability (SLD) is a term that is used to describe different types of learning issues. It can be detected through observation, evaluation and assessment.

Dyslexia is a learning disability in reading.
Dysgraphia is a learning disability in writing.
Dyscalculia is a learning disability in mathematics.

Acceptance is of utmost importance as believing that a child does not have SLD, even after observation leads to unnecessary pressure on both the child and the parent. We must remember that is okay for children to learn at their own pace, without comparing them to others. Expert help is often advised to find mechanisms that help the learning the process for these children.

So let’s start 2021with a pinch of awareness and a hope that life will become easier for all the children out there with SLD.
